Life at 2 months

It seems with each day Malcolm shows us something new to ponder. Whether it be him recognizing our voices, holding eye contact longer, or giving us lots of smiles when we interact with him.

His favorite place seems to be the changing table. He likes to look into the mirror and stretch out. It's here he saves his best work for Daddy.

He's finding that his hands are his own and loves to suck on his fists. Lately too, he's begun to move his fingers independently. Soon he'll be reaching for things with a purpose.

Now with Spring, we are managing to get out and about more often, introducing him to all sorts of life outside the house. He loves walks around the neighborhood and does well traveling in the car. Both seem agreeable to him as he usually sleeps during these outings.

Mommy still puts in the long night hours. Nursing and changing diapers and walking the floors and sometimes catching a little computer time.

He doesn't look like a newborn anymore. His checks are filling out. He finds his voice for more than crying. Malcolm loves to wake to the early morning sunshine. Though, we're still groggy in the morning, he'll talk and smile and laugh just content on his own, but loves it when we interact with him.

In the morning he enjoys recapping Morning Edition with us after breakfast as he lies on his back and babbles. He also has learned the power of his voice and will protest and scold if the situation warrants. Which usually means he's hungry or in need of a change (diapers or scenery). But we're still trying to figure out these meanings.

At this point it's safe to say that we find that normal life is extraordinary.

Six weeks old and oh so busy

Here's what Malcolm's been up to lately...

Hangin' with the Madison Fire Department and his friend, Tran.

Distracting Daddy from his work.

Impatiently waiting to eat.

Napping with a buddy (in their cute little hats).

Thinking he's done being photographed.

Look out Hulk...Helcolm Malcolm's in the house

It's a bathrobe, but Daddy hummed the Rocky theme song while Malcolm wore his robe.

And Malcolm's been doing this move early on. Reminded us of Hulk Hogan, back in the day.

First Volleyball Tournament

Malcolm attended his first volleyball tournament this past weekend. He anticipated lots of action.

However, it didn't take long to have the familiar sounds of whistles and cheers that he was custom to hearing in mama's belly to lull him to sleep.
