Happy Birthday Mommy!
I know that this is a couple days late, but Malcolm wanted to say a blog "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to the best mommy he knows. I think she is pretty awesome too. She looks good for 30.... :)

and away we go...
Malcolm took his first airplane ride from Milwaukee to Boston. We traveled with Papa and Nonna and also my aunt Linda (my mom's sister).
Before take-off, we watched planes land and take off in the wee hours of the morning.
Once in Boston, we rented a van, met up with Laura and Mike, and hit the town...
...First, to Faneuil Hall, where Malcolm learned some history....
...Then, to North End where Malcolm found something in common with this chef statue...
...and where he got his first taste of gelato which he couldn't get enough of...
...Then onto the oldest street in Boston to get our picture taken with Benjamin Franklin. THE Benjamin Franklin. For $2.
After all the city sightseeing, we stopped by Mike's parents, Tom and Diane's, to say hello. They generously helped us to refuel with some nice munchies and friendly conversation in their wonderful New England home.

8 months: In a few words
We're a little behind on the blog and the monthly updates. It's not for lack of happenings or all the changes Malcolm's gone through this past month. It's probably more for lack of words.
Words that fail to really describe how tired we can feel at the end of the day trying to keep up with Malcolm. And he doesn't even crawl yet.
Words that can't possibly explain why we laugh when he lets out his little laugh of joy. He does this everyday.
Words don't seem to have a way to convey why we pause to wonder what Malcolm is thinking, how he is processing his world, and everything he's learning. It's hard to not stare at him while he explores his surroundings.
Words that can't fully express the feelings of warmth that one little person brings to our lives.

Happy Halloween
Malcolm and Mom took a trip to Maine (posts to follow soon) but were back in Wisconsin for Halloween. Here Malcolm is donning his Halloween socks from Auntie Laura.

An autumn walk.

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit so we took advantage of the sunny, yet cool day to take in an autumn walk.

The colors aren't popping as they are known to do, but we found one nice golden tree.

It was a good walk through the woods of Governor Nelson's State Park on lake Mendota.
Malcolm liked the sound of the leaves crunching under our feet and a little pine cone he wanted to put in his mouth.
